ACCA
Kaplan ACCA Professional Attachment
Scheme (PAS)
FTC Kaplan is the first ACCA tuition provider in Singapore to provide students the chance to be put on attachment with audit and other commercial firms.
The attachment starts in January and July each year. Only
students who have completed ACCA Fundamentals level examinations
are eligible for the exercise. Students gain valuable
work experience for at least 2 months. They then return
to Kaplan to continue with their ACCA course. For graduating
students, this is an excellent opportunity to establish
ties with firms. Some of our graduating students were
offered permanent job placements because of their outstanding
performance during the attachment.

for more details.
Below is the feedback from students who have participated in the programme.
"I was attached to David Yeung & Co as an audit assistant for three and a half months. I think it is essential to gain some work experience and to
have an idea of what audit is about, apart from classroom learning. Although the period of attachment was not long, I learnt to perform audits of several
companies of varying business nature. The seniors from the firm were always willing to answer my queries whenever I encountered difficulties."

"I joined the internship programme to gain working experience and exposure to the audit field.
Joining Loke Lum & Partners was a new and challenging experience for me. This was my first audit experience. I was assigned to a different client
each week. There were seniors helping and guiding me during the first 2 weeks. After that I was left to carry out the assignments all by myself. I had
the chance to look at the different industries and companies. The assignments were interesting. I learned about their accounting policies and treatments
for different items."

"I was attached to the audit department of Loke Lum & Partners for 4 months.
I chose Loke Lum & Partners because I wanted to gain audit experience with a medium-sized or international audit firm.
During these 4 months, I was involved in various audits. Loke Lum & Partners has a systematic and efficient approach to help attachment students
build up audit skills quickly, especially for those with no experience. After being given a brief orientation on the firm's audit procedures, I was immediately
put on a new audit assignment on the very first day. I was guided and advised by the seniors on each specific issue and problem involved in the audit.
The first assignment was, as always, the most difficult, and it took the longest time to complete. I turned to the seniors from time to time. The assignments
were made easier with the seniors explaining to me on what were to be done and how they should be done. I feel that I have gained very valuable auditing
knowledge and experience and now know how an auditor's life is really like - whether it is really as tough as what others say, and whether it suits me."

"I was doing my ACCA core papers when I heard of the Professional Attachment Scheme conducted by FTC Kaplan. As I had no working experience, I
thought this attachment could provide me with a chance to gain hands-on experience and a chance of a permanent position with the firm.
I was attached to SK Lai & Co for two months, and was involved mainly in the preparation of accounts for clients. I was also put on audit assignments
and did basic procedures like sales cut-off test and vouching.
I am grateful to FTC for providing me with this chance of working in an audit firm and would strongly recommend students to join the attachment
programme."

"I was attached to American Express for 2 months. I assumed the role of a finance analyst and supported the Finance team of the Global Network
and Establishment Services in Amex. I chose to do this attachment as Amex could expose me to the unique corporate culture of an established MNC.
Also, I could get a feel of the vibrant and interesting financial services industry.
I performed duties like reconciling headcount details, uploading and submitting investment templates, and consolidating data for variance reports
and trend file during the internship. I valued the experience that I gained and the new friends that I made. This internship certainly opened my doors
to potential future employers!
