CAT
The Syllabus
The syllabus is divided into three levels - Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced. All papers in the Introductory
and Intermediate Levels are compulsory. Advanced Level contains 3 compulsory papers and optional papers. You are
required to take 2 optional papers. You only need to pass 9 papers unless exemptions are awarded.
You can sit the papers in any order, taking as many or as few papers as you feel ready for at each exam session.
However, ACCA would strongly advise you to sit the papers in numerical order and attempt no more than four papers
per exam session.
Exams at Introductory and Intermediate Levels and Paper 5 are of two hours duration. Exams for Advanced Level
papers are three hours in duration. You have the choice of sitting computer-based or paper-bases exams for papers at
Introductory and Intermediate Levels. Paper-based exams are held twice a year - in June and December.
Upon completion of the CAT exams, you will be automatically transferred to the Skills Module of the
ACCA Qualification exams, providing you are 17 years of age or over and
that you notified ACCA for this transfer to take place when you initially registered as a CAT student.
