This beginner module is targeted at adults who may function with some difficulty in situations related to immediate needs and may have some simple oral communication abilities using basic learned phrases and sentences.

Learners in the beginner module may be able to read and write letters and numbers, a limited number of sight words and simple phrases related to immediate needs. They can also write basic personal information on simplified forms. In terms of their employability, they can handle routine entrylevel jobs that involve only basic oral and written communication in English and in which all tasks can be demonstrated.
